Projects

mmm…maple candy
No personal blog/website would be complete nowadays without some sort of platform to rest upon. Whether it is niche blogging about vegan-cooking, stay-at-home-parenting, package design, or even real estate in Tallahassee, FL, most blogs sit upon a base made up of what they want to write about (or in some instances actively promote).

I think after careful consideration, I’m not that simple, so instead I present to you a list of projects that I am working on and/or support:

  • I currently work for, and am a huge supporter of Farmers Markets. Specifically I work as the volunteer co-ordinator for the Vancouver Farmers Markets.  If you want to check us out, visit our volunteer blog that I keep updated over here.
  • The Vancouver Farmers Markets is looking to expand to a permanent location to offer more services, like a small-scale meat processing facility and permanent home for their vendors year-round.  Please stay tuned as I will be updating news on this.
  • Big fan of Meatless Mondays. Today is Monday and I’m going to eat chickpeas. Meatless Mondays also just recently launched in my domicile.
  • I am supporter of UBC Farm.  Being that it is the last large farm land in Metro Vancouver where farming can be taught, it is at times as important as…well food.  No farmers. No farms. No food.
  • On similar ground, I am a supporter of Farm Folk/City Folk.  They do amazing outreach to teach people in Vancouver about local food, including their project with the Vancouver Farmers Markets called Get Local BC.
  • If you want to see what books I’m reading, check out my “reads“. Don’t worry, they are not all by Michael Pollan :-).
  • I have a background in design, specifically print design, and so look for news about my design work.
  • I’m working on creating my very own sourdough starter for breads and bannocks.
